P.S. 305 is a young, scrappy, and hungry grassroots education non-profit organization based in Miami, Florida. Through community organizing and advocacy, we aim to achieve educational equity in Miami in our lifetime. Our mission is to inform, organize, and empower leaders that advocate for a rigorous system of high quality schools across Miami. Through our work, students, parents, teachers, and community members are informed about the performance of schools and are actively working to improve academic outcomes through advocacy at all levels of the education system. This diverse group of stakeholders improves outcomes primarily through grassroots organizing around local issues, best-practice policies, and taking on policy campaigns.


The P.S. 305 Lead Organizer will play a key role in informing and activating the Miami education community. Education Organizers will receive training on organizing and advocacy skills and lead projects within P.S. 305’s Transparency and Leadership program strands. The Lead Organizer will act as the main point of contact between families, schools, policymakers, and community organizations. We value our organizers and will do our best to ensure that projects will be aligned to their individual career goals.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Build relationships with parent and/or teacher participants by conducting one-on-one meetings. 
  • Support P.S. 305 Parent Leadership Team (PLT) campaign work through individual and group coaching in advocacy, education policy, and leadership development.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate trainings for either the P.S. 305 Neighborhood Team Meeting and/or community partner trainings.
  •  Use P.S. 305’s curriculum to deliver trainings, following the prescribed agenda and content, with intensive support from P.S. 305 staff.
  • Curate PLT lesson plans and content and collect and analyze data to evaluate trainings.
  •  Develop and manage relationships with a broad base of constituents in the District and build support of organization’s parent leader campaign.  
  • Assist leadership with special projects, as needed.

  • Deep commitment to the mission and vision of P.S. 305 and improving public education opportunities for youth and families in Miami.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • 100% Follow-Through: No dropped balls policy. Stay on top of specific tasks and consistently meet deadlines. 
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in MS Office. 
  • Spanish and/or Haitian Creole speaking preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
